It would be great to have photos of our earlier ancestors, Hugh, Ann, John, Joseph, and Isabella. John was a justice or JUDGE in Hampshire county. When visiting the Hampshire County Courthouse on many occasions. I asked to see the pictures of the past Judges. Sadly when you look at the walls, you see that we will never see the oil painting of our John Parrill, due to the fact that the Courthouse was burned to the ground during the Civil War. All the Judges paintings and pictures that are there on the wall, are from after the Courthouse was rebuilt after the war. Since Joseph passed before 1840, there is a no chance of finding his photo, only a painting would be possible. The invention of the camera was announced in Europe in 1839, Although some photos were taken after 1850's, photography was not widely introduced in the U.S. until after the 1890's.
Below is our Great Great Granddad Jacob Dillon Parrill, who first wed Lydia Dellinger, then later wed Clarenda Reynolds. Jacob D. was one of three triplet boys born in Hampshire Co. in 1825. The other two triplet brothers are Abraham, who went to Ohio, and Isaac P. who married twice and stayed close with Jacob. D. Since Joseph died when they were young. Their mother Isabella Grey Parrill, stayed with Isaac for years, then later with her daughter Mary who wed Robert Hook. I have tried to contact the Hooks hopeful to gain some information, but have thus far been unsuccessful. Due to their total lack of interest and co-operation. Some of the kin (Hooks) reside in Capon Bridge but most do not care about the family history We have other leads and in time will pursue them. It would be great to get pictures of these family members, and if you are browsing this site and know of some photos of the afore mentioned, please contact me. Thank You.
Jacob Dillon Parrills Familes
Jacob Dillon Parrill born Oct 11 1825 it is a
miracle that we obtained this photo, since all the fires, and destruction by
nature, and the Civil War. This is a real treasure,
thanks again Kenneth Parrill for sharing it with us.
He is also Kenneth's Great Great Granddad through the
second marriage of Clarinda,
This is a photo taken at the old "Ward place" somewhere in Capon Bridge WV. in 1902
In the photo from left to right are unknown friend or helping hand, Rhoda Parrill who married Wilber Haines. .Then Edward Ashby Turner Parrill with daughter Loretta who married Snyder, but sadly died around 18 years old. Then there is our Granddad Jacob Lebanian Parrill with his mother and our Great Great Grandmom Sallie Ann Lambert Parrill. In the background on the porch were Leila Parrill who married Stewart, and Lydia who married Bruce Haines. It is great to have this photo. Fire had plagued their early Parrill families. Jacob D lost his home in fire in 1878 and Jacob L, and Laura lost their home by fire, and lost most family possessions including the family bibles. So what ever we find is a treasure.
Here are Edward Ashby and Sallie with family and friends getting ready to play, or have already enjoyed some music. Ethyl thinks it is Grover Kackley with the banjo Grover lived with them since he was a small boy. He was engaged to Etta Saville sadly she died before they could be married. Thanks for the picture Doug Munson !!!

This photo was taken about the year 1992 , near Burlington WV, Mineral Co. WV, formerly Hampshire Co. In the picture are my children Michael Parrill Jr. and Stephanie Marie Parrill.. Our cousin Kenneth Parrill says there used to be an old wooden sign there years ago. It is now replaced with the metal "Parrill Hollow Road" sign. Hugh Parrill who wed Lucy Cundiff lived there. Hugh's relative Linda Rollef has been working with us. We are sure that he is a descendant of Hugh ann Ann Calvert.
